Why choose Wordcraft?
Flexible
Weekly lessons can be completed at a time that suits your family. Schedules change, illnesses happen; with Wordcraft you never need to miss or cancel a lesson you've paid for. Simply log on and complete when you want.
Safe & Supportive
Classrooms can be daunting places and there are a lot of students that find sharing work and ideas in front of others incredibly difficult. One of the core aims of Wordcraft is to offer students a safe space in which to practise sharing their opinions and writing, if they wish, in the hope that this leads to them feeling confident enough to share in their real classrooms.
Affordable
For £30 a month you gain access to a virtual classroom with weekly lessons that involve whole class feedback from the teacher as well as 1 piece of extended writing marked with personal feedback.
Promotes both knowledge and creativity
Lessons are designed to build the knowledge and skills needed to write correctly and fluently. At the same time every lesson aims to encourage creative thinking. Writing is an essential life skill and so is imagination.
Positive Outcomes
What can your student hope to gain as a result of joining a Wordcraft classroom?
A brighter mindset
Often it isn't a right or wrong answer English examiners are looking for but the critical thinking behind an idea. Weekly encouragement and opportunity to share opinions will allow all participants the chance to observe how other peers consider a piece of text whilst they practise articulating their own thinking. Hopefully all students, regardless of how they felt at the beginning, will find that by the end of a course their self-confidence and belief in the validity of their own thinking will have grown.
Variety of tools to support stronger written communication
The writing section of every lesson is designed to focus on something small that students practice in isolation before applying to a longer piece of work.

The aim is to provide students with a range of tools they can confidently call on in the future to help them write clearly and with flair.

These courses, apart from the GCSE revision ones, are not designed for any specific exam board or curriculum. They have been designed to encourage students to become successful written communicators.
(And, fingers crossed, reading enthusiasts!)
Clear next steps for future improvement
Once a month, students will submit a piece of creative writing privately that I will review and write feedback for with clear suggestions on next steps to try. This will be shared with those supporting them at home.

Whole class feedback will also be given weekly in the form of posts or teaching videos. This feedback will be based on the work shared by students in the virtual classroom.

Whilst participation in the virtual classroom is not mandatory, it is encouraged to help students benefit as much as possible.
